Right, the serious issue. What do we have that makes us different from everyone else? Well, for a start, our engineers. These people have a wealth of experience in location recording which makes them by far our most valuable asset. However, for those who need to know, a typical small recording rig looks like this:

Focusrite pre amps and channel strips. As a preference, we use the Platinum range, for example, the Penta for vocals, bass, guitar - single mic instruments,

and the Octo Pre for drums or large groups - eight channels of wonderful compression

We record into a Mackbook Pro, using Protools software,

running on a digi 003 rack

(this enables us to record up to 18 tracks simultaneously, at 24bit/96khz)

For tracking and creating montior mixes, we usually take out a Mackie 16:4:2,

a lexicon MPX 200 for reverb

and many, many microphones. We have a range of condenser, valve, ribbon and dynamic mics, which cover all eventualities. We use Oktava and Sure by preference, also some Rhode and Red5. These mics have been selected as they sound wonderful and are built to withstand knocks.

Needless to say, essential items such as headphones, cables, stands, DI boxes, pop shields, headphone amps etc come along too.

For those that need them, we also have a wide range of synthesisers and keyboards back at base, including, but not limited to, Waldorf, Novation, Roland JV, Korg and Hammond.

We keep a Fender performer amp for guitars, Adrenalin, Roland and Behringer effects and amp modelling pedals.

We also make use of Propellerhead's Reason and Ableton audio manipulation software, and use Waves plugins, Izotope Ozone and Trash and many others within Pro Tools.

From capturing the sounds through editing and finally to mixing and mastering, we have carefully selected the right tools for each part of the process. The results speak for themselves.
